With one week to go before my next (hernia) surgery, I decided to go out and enjoy another day on the water. Once again the catfishing was slow, slow, slow.

Today I caught 3 species of catfish - channel cats, blue cats, and that species that looks exactly like blue catfish - only smaller, like only 8 inches or so. Seems that those miniature catfish have run off the real blues and are just about all that's available right now. (I suppose that it's possible that with the big blues elsewhere, those dwarf fish feel safe enough to come out and nibble the bait.) I wound up with 14 or 15 cats, the channel was really nice at 8 pounds, one blue went 15, and 4 of the blues went 6 to 10 pounds. I could have caught a hundred tiny cats by using a #2 hook and a sliver of bait, but they still wouldn't have weighed 5 pounds emoLaugh. It would be a riot for a kid with 10 pound test and a bunch of worms (well, OK, I kinda enjoyed it myself!)

All of the bigger fish were stacked together in one tight group again today. The smaller fish were scattered all over and are currently as full as little ticks from stealing all of my skipjack - one tiny nibble at a time.
