i was curious if anyone knows if there are any conservation efforts to help the chum and pinks in the columbia.
according to the fish passage info just over 1000 chum and 800 pinks have crossed sense 2000 - present.
compare that to the 6mill + chinnok and almost 4 mill steelhead. that have crossed in the same time frame.

Not sure but don't think so. What about the silvers? I'd take Silvers over Reds any day. Chums are fun [bobsurprised]

I would love to see Silvers here in Idaho. Fun to catch and great to eat. Not sure if they were ever here as well as the pinks and chums. I am sure at one time that a few had to be here before all the dams. Would be nice to see things restored to the time of "Before man screwed it up".

There used to be cohos in Idaho, they went extinct a couple of decades ago, but they are starting to make a comeback thanks to the tribe(s?) in northern Idaho, I know the Nez Perce has put a good effort into it, and they are starting to get returns now, just not enough to fish for yet. I've helped pit tag some coho jouveniles up in a trib of the clearwater, that was pretty cool. I agree that it would be awesome if they got some good runs reestablished!
