I took my friend, John Faulkner out this morning for a little bit of crappie fishing. I knew that it was going to be a tough day before we started with the north wind blowing 8 mph at daylight and getting stronger by the minute. We hit a couple of docks on the main river first and caught a nice 2 lb spotted bass and about 7 crappie before the wind forced us to find shelter. Fortunately, I was onto some fish that was on the lee side of the north wind and John and I were able to catch 31 total with 17 big keepers going home with John and the missus. She left him strict orders to bring home fish today, so we couldn't disappoint her at all. emoBig

We had a couple of crappie over 13 inches long and all the keepers that we kept were minimum of 11" and those less than that were thrown back to grow up, spawn, and look for us next year. emoUp We basically used the same techniques that I have been using for the past few days except the fish were deeper as one would expect with the passage of a cold front. John and I had a great morning of fellowship and fish catching. John did have a catfish on that eventually pulled off and I caught another 2-3 pound channel cat that was thrown back after a good lashing for biting our crappie lures. emoBig

Water flow was 72,000 cfs and I didn't get a water temp reading as I sent my unit back to the factory yesterday for repair. I should get it back in a couple of weeks, hopefully. I almost feel naked out there without a deph finder and the hotmaps chip that is in my unit. I'm not fishing tomorrow. Have a honey-do to finish and Hal will come calling on Friday. Wind should be shifted by Friday and it will be a great day to be on the water. emoGeezer
