I did it at night. i think it all depends on your luck if they are biting there. it was kind of tricky deciding which path to take back to try and get back to the vehicle home. it was hard for me to tell where you are with a lantern in the dark. I just marched on as all trails lead to some where and found the car. I only caught small green a cat fish on sardines. I wonder how the hot dog marshmallow would do out there or stink bait.

Thanks atleast u pulled one out of there[fishin], Do u know if u can build fires on the shoreline in a rock pit using wood?? Ive seen other people do it in the past, I dont want to get a ticket or anything. I was just gonna hike down before sunset set up my fire stay for couple hours then hike back up using a maglite, guess I better buy a lantern I also was gonna buy some anchovies or live bait of some type wheres a good spot to pick up?? thanks for sharing peace

The water level has been dropping so bad out there I wonder how much water is even left at whole 33. Within one month of me visiting there over the summer the water dropped significantly... About the fires I believe I heard that an older lady at boulder beach next to the fishing pier made a fire that the rangers made her put out and warned her that she could be fined. Altough being out way by yourself it may be a bit different at hole 33. I think it would be safer to just dress warmer as they cannot ticket you for that and do you don't really have to carry on the hike since you'll be wearing it. A gas lantern could warm your hands if you really wanted fire for the warmth factor.

Yah Hole 33 is a pain in the butt, because the water level is so low. Its not so bad walking down, but depending on how much stuff you bring walking back up can be a pain in the butt. I plan on trying Hole 33 again one day but I will not be taking to much gear with me.

Last time I was at Hole 33 the smaller stripers where biting, just like every other place I have fished this summer. Now that its fall the stripers are getting a bit bigger at Boulder Harbor but not sure about Hole 33.

Pretty sure I caught a baby perch at Hole 33 about a month ago, wish I had my camera that time.
