Got on the lake about 10:00 this morning. Finally a day with very little wind. My plan was to try some new docks for crappie and perhaps some creek channel edges too. Fishing with 1/32 jigs and BG shad. Color didn't seem to matter. My best location today was a shallow platform with only 6-7' of water. I caught 8 crappie there and the smallest was 12 1/2" and largest just over 15". Several seemed to follow the jig out from under the platform and only actually take it in open water. I am quessing about that as also caught several directly under the platform on the first movement after letting it drop for a 3 count. All told I tried 3 new docks and caught fish on 2 of them. Also got some nice fish on a couple of my usual places. In all had 18 keeper crappie (kept 4 smallest for dinner and returned the largest back to the lake. Also had 3 smaller spotted bass and 5 med bluegill. Crappie were caught from 6' to 21' of water, all on main lake docks. Had no luck on creek channel edges, but my technique there was probably poor. I will usually catch 5 or 6 crappie at a location and then move on to try another spot. I don't need a lot for the freezer and really enjoy the hunt as much as the catching. I have to thank DrumKing for helping me learn how to fish the docks the easy way.

Regards, Norman
