Woke up this morning with an attitude - I was going to go fishing today, recent hernia surgery be, ah, darned!!!! I girded my loins for battle by putting on an athletic supporter purchased for just this occasion. Of course, after having put on the new device, I had to model it in front of the full-length mirror. I was expecting to see my face on the body of Ahhhnold Schwartzenegger, but instead was rewarded with the image of a squat sumo wrestler. Huh, must be one of those trick mirrors. EEEEEwwwwww!!!!!!

Maybe it was just a little more effort than I thought to pull the boat out of the garage and hook up, but nothing to worry about. Launching, however, was a bit trickier. Backed up slightly farther than normal so the boat would float a bit better off of the trailer and I wouldn't have to push it off like normal. Of course, this meant that I had to climb up onto the bumper of the Durango, but I had installed a handle onto the truck to make it easier to do this trick in the winter when the water drops emoIdea . Not too bad hauling my sumo butt up using mostly arm strength. Now a little shuffle step or two and I need to step down onto the Tongue and then into the boat. Uh-oh. A "small step for man, a giant leap" for anyone just operated upon. Some major contortions get me there. Wow. that wasn't fun! And now a strap on the new supporter has slipped (uh, toward the center) and I am now wearing an athletic THONG! Geez! Now I feel like a sumo wrestler too.

Did I mention that a cold front finished passing this morning and the wind was out of the east??? Made the catfishing at my special top-secret spot pretty slow, with a half-dozen 4 to 6 pound fish on the bottom and a few more 6 to 8 pounders suspended at 35 feet. I wandered off to another location and managed to find another half-dozen blues, but the size was better with the biggest being 15 pounds. I even snapped a few pix.

Enough was enough, I was fairly worn out and actually thankful that I hadn't needed to try to lift a big fish into the boat. The trip home was uneventful, and as soon as I get done typing I'm going to get some tools and try to remove that new thong............
