well i found they like worms and shrimp , try this rig take 2 three way swivels 2 ft leader on both sweviles tie one three foot below the other bottom swivel tie light line on bottom then put 2 ounce weight. use the 2 ft leaders to tie hooks on i use circle octupus hooks but any will be fine . find rock dikes that run into the main channelcast into main channnel close to the edges that were they will be if any where.they are bottom feeders and they have small mouths on bottom run your worms up the hook aways so you have a lot of worm showing.also you can get worm scent and tie acouple of sponges above your hook to bring them in to youhere a tip i tred useing its new i came up with it get your scent and some small balloons fill balloon with it and freeze tie on above your hook and let it defrost in water after you put a couple pin holes in to it.

imgenious , a time-release scent pack made out of a simple baloon ! now that idea is something you shoud post under the hot fishing tips too !

as a kid i hooked into one of these giants on a little zebco 202 outfit . it pulled our canoe all over the place and only surfaced once , just long enough to scare this guy from swimming in the water for a long time ! ( i was just a kid ) .

years later i had one on while walleye fishing the trenton channel in the detroit river , it pulled my 17' fiberglass boat up the current for some distance before my hook straitened out , just imagine the size and the power that fish had .

i'm sure dave and i will be using this method with our new bigfishtackle 30# rods , i have the advantage over him thou , my rod came with a twelve pack of fishermans luck to sprinkle on it when needed [Wink] .

thanks for the tips on how to catch these gentle giants of the deep . i sure appreatiate it ![cool]
