I am from Park City and my uncle and his friend are coming to fish with me starting tomorrow morning till Monday. I flyfish about 5 days a week on the Provo, Weber and other rivers near here, but the problem is that they are spin fisherman and don't usually fish moving water. I have plans to give them a few flyfishing lessons but beyond that I really have no clue what still waters around here are good for tossing lures except for the Uintah Mtn lakes. We would be strictly shore fishing so any info is appreciated.

Are you going to be bank fishing or boat ?

Park City is a great place to start from theres lots of great places near there. For starts Jordanelle fishing pretty good the troutskis are in shallower water. I hear Rockport also is fishing well but for out of towners I suggest Strawberry the cuts are biting. Try a small grey or black tube jig tipped with a worm. [Wink]

Shore fishing only, the boat has already been winterized. Are the cuts in the shallows at Strawberry? Where is the best place to fish from the shore there. I have only taken my pontoon out of strawberry bay before.

Hmm haven't fished the shore there in a while usually from a boat but yes with the colder temps they should be closer to the shore I've always done well on the bank near Chicken Creek East also near Renegade.

If you fish often on the Provo, Web and other area rivers, you know where to go. Remember the biggets brown trout hole you've ever fished and take them there. Have them throw their spinners and if they dare Rapalas. ($6)[frown]. Throw them the same as you would drift a fly. Cast up stream and across then stay in contact with the lure, reeling in, as it is swept back and swings downstream. Then dredge the pools with slow deep retrives.
Mepps Panther Martin, Blue Fox, and Wordens are favorites.
