Hit the reservoir near Mustang Ridge on Friday and the lake trout fishing is still good. I caught 8 pups up to about 3.5 lbs and one nice rainbow (2 lbs) in 1.5-2 hrs of fishing. There were only a couple of other boats out on this end of the lake. I found schools of active fish suspended at 70-80 ft over 90-120 ft of water, near points and cliffs. Bites were light, so having a quality low stretch line (braid or flourocarbon) and a fast-heavy action rod helps out a lot. I was using 3/8 oz glow-in-the-dark jighead tipped with a Gulp minnow. Surface temps have now cooled to about 53F.

Hope it helps, Ryno

Nice report Ryan, did you try any trolling or were all fish caught while jigging? I really love those Gulp minnows, do you think they helped increase your catch rate?

Just jigging. The Gulp have been working good, but they get expensive. I have a hard time getting more than one fish out of them, being they are so soft. Seems like all the good jigs work that way. Some friends are also scoring pups using tube jigs tipped with sucker.
