Did not have evening service today due to homecoming so decided to sneak out and do some fishing. We got on the water around 3:30. Wind had picked up pretty good and the were making a lot of current. We started on some deep water docks( docks in 10ft to 15ft). Used 1/32 and 1/16 jig heads. Color of the day was Bobby Garland Monkey milk and Red Thunder. We tried about 7 different colors but those two produced the fish we caught. Water temp was 60 to 61. After the deep water docks, we moved to shallow docks( 5ft to 8ft). That is where we found most of the fish. It seemed that the crappie did not stage under the docks but really moved in the boat slip opening. We really did not have to "shoot" under the dock ledges. We simple cast into the slip areas and retrieved it on a really slow roll. On our way back to the ramp we spotted some busting fishing. i Stopped the boat and cast a Rattle Trap in them...WHAM..really nice strip bass. We went on to catch 7 or 8 more. Jim only had crappie tackle but caught more than me fishing with a Bobby Garland....lol. Great day on the water.
