I always had all of my fishing stuff all over the place. It
was very easy to forget something.
So one day I just got mad and made I fishing only
cabinet.
I went to store and bought a white storage cabinet ($100)
and did some modifications to it . Just finished it.
Now all my fishing stuff is in it. Fly rods are inside
the blue Fishpond case.
I even have a light inside[Smile]
Soooooooo much better now.
I just taught that I share[Wink]

P.S: float tubing stuff is not inside. That is stored
in my camper.

Great idea. I need some shelves for mine, but this might be better depending upon the size of cabinet.

You can make that out of any cabinet. They have many
different sizes.
Mine came with only three shelves so I did a little
"customizing" to my needs.
Having that little light inside helps as well. Im thinking about running full power there so I can put up a bigger light and also can plug in my fish finder battery charger
and what ever alse I may need.
I like the doors on it because that keeps my cat out.[Smile]

Those rods look a little cluttered I havve some room to store them for you TD, if you like[Wink]

[cool][#0000ff]You are a kind and generous person. What a guy![/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Actually, those pics were taken in my tackle room when I lived in Arizona. Since moving back to Utah and retiring, I have "accumulated" even more STUFF. But, you will be happy to know that I have a large 3 car garage in which my rods have plenty of space alloted to avoid "cluttering". Doesn't mean they are always well organized, but I usually know where each rod is...even if I can't decide which ones to take on a specific trip.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]I really DO have a lot of stuff. But, it is the end result of being a serious fisherman for over 60 years, a float tuber for over 50 years, a fly tier and fly fisherman for over 50 years and a rod builder and custom lure maker for about 40 years. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Having lived, worked and fished over the entire USA and into Canada, Alaska and Mexico I have had the NEED for a wide range of tackle and lures. These days I do not use much of what I have owned and used in the past and I have "downloaded" much more than what you see in the pictures. I have kids and grandkids that now own a lot of what I used to have, and I am always trading, buying and selling other stuff.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I really don't have a difficult time justifying all those goodies. My wife and I fish a lot and use a lot of it, on a wide variety of waters and different species. Plus, we have a group of regular fishing partners who buy or trade for some of the things I make that they cannot get anywhere else. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]And, as my wife tells people...it "keeps me off the streets and out of trouble" (mostly).[/#0000ff]

I have seen his current room. He does have a lot of stuff. And about keeping him off the streets yes! Out of trouble? NO.[:p]

I seeeeeeeeeeeeee[Smile]
Well that all makes sense to me . Looks like you have it
all well organized, in plastic boxes, on shelves and such.
Good for you TD.[Wink]

I have seen his room as well. It is a glorified craft room that I want to play in. I would have too much fun making a mess.[Smile]

TD thanks for the encouragement. I have a 12x16 stormor shed thats I use for my fishing supplies. I sheetrocked it, put in heat and air and 220 (why I don't know but I may need to weld up some Dutch Harbor dry flies someday). Put shelving top to bottom and all around. Problem is it's a mess and I can't find what I need when I need it. I tend to just open the door and toss the stuff in. After seeing your pic's it gives me hope that someday I may get organized. I can only hope!

[cool][#0000ff]I would have been dead a long time ago if I had tried to keep track of everything with the "biblical system" (seek and ye shall find). I have multiple boxes for each of several different styles of flies, jigs, spinners, spoons, hooks, beads, lure parts, rod building components, etc. Once I finish pouring, painting and otherwise finishing a lure, I put in in the proper place and keep track of inventory. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I use permanent markers to label the compartmented boxes on all sides, for easy reading at any angle. And then I keep them sorted by classification, size, color, etc. As those who have been to my tackletorium will verify, There is nothing I cannot put my hands on quickly whenever a question comes up or they want to see or buy something.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It takes many hours to set up such a system. And you periodically have to reorganize as you expand your horizons. But, it makes it so much simpler to keep track of what you have and to put together a trip when you need to gather specific items.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]A big part of my working career involved time management and organization so I had some good experience in setting up systems.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Doesn't give me any more excuses for buying stuff but it helps me keep track of it so I don't double up as often...or run out just when I need it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Sounds like you are laying the foundation for a sytem. Keep on keepin' on.[/#0000ff]
