Just returned from a 3 week hunting trip In Eureka NV. My daughter and I were successful harvesting a deer. As always when we hunt we have our poles and gear. We were directed to Southfork Res. outside of Elko. I have never been there. Wife and I popped in for a couple of hours we caught 3 17in Rainbows off the bank with power bait. Ended up staying in Elko 3 days caught about 6 total all 2.5 lbs. We also hit Illapah before and after the hunt. It is a fun place to fish they were all 12-14 inches and fat and we caught our limit in a hour both times. We have been eating Rainbow trout alot you just can't beat fresh fish. Northern Nevada has always been my favorite place to fish. Then only thing better would have been to get some Chukar and grouse too they were in season at different times but we had our shotguns too. What a fun time we had.

Southfork is an awesome smallmouth fishery with descent largemouth as well. The Elko Bass Club holds their tournaments their. A few Vegas guy's went up there last month to fish a tourny and said they couldnt keep the trout off their bass gear and that they were all fat.
