Pat and I changed gears a little bit today cause I wanted to fish some off shore structures and although I caught a nice crappie on the very first cast, the rest were few and far between. We bounced around throwing markers and fishing deep brush and stuff and finally fished a couple of bluffs and scratched out 21 crappie and 3 bass. One largehead and 2 spotted bass that were both chunks. Very near 3 lbs each. The largemouth was almost 18" long, but if it weighed over 2.5 pounds, I would be greatly surprised. It was as skinny as I'd like to be. emoBigSmile

We found the fish to be in a neutral at best to negative mood mostly and we really had to beg them to get them to bite. 1/16 oz jigheads and bg shads, slab slayers and stingers were our trailers. I didn't notice the water temp, but the weather man lied cause we had to put on raincoats for a little while. The wind was nil and we generally had a great time talking and working our lures deep. We didn't wear each other out putting fish in the livewell. emoUpSmile emoGeezer

Going scouting again in the morning just in case I decide to fish the upcoming crappie tx. I'm not too fond of the 3 people per boat that they are going to allow. 3 against 2 just doesn't seem fair to me, but stay tuned. I'm sorry that we only took pics of the bass. I thought that we took one of the biggest crappie, but maybe we didn't.
