I have a buddy who is very interested in buying an M-4 Carbine. But like me he doesn't really know what brand to buy. Between a bushmaster and a couple others we really didn't know what the difference was between them all. Any suggestions? Got around a grand to spend.

I have a bushmaster M-4 carbine, great rifle. If he can afford a colt, I would go there all the way. I would have a rock river also. Stay away from Other off brand names. Secret is in cleaning and keeping it clean. They LIKE oil. use it on them

The one we were looking at was the bushmaster. I saw nothing wrong with it. I think it sits kinda in the middle on price and is still a good quality gun I just wasn't sure about some of the other manufactuers. There were some funky names out there.

You know I think thats why he is looking for one. He became to partial to the one he had in Iraq. LOL

Colt are great rifles. Stag Arms are great rifles and their receivers are used in a few others such as Rock River and Smith and Wesson. Daniel Defense is making their own everything and hammer forging their barells, Bushmaster, DPMS, CMMG and a ton of others receivers are made right here in UT among other places. Depends on who's parts they are using to build them. I prefer a gun that is built by the people who are selling it not someone who's just assembling guns. I could do that in my basement. Kills me when people are so sold on Rock River and turn their nose up at Stag or S&W when they are very very similar guns (if not exact) with mostly the same parts. I do like Rock Rivers two stage trigger however. What ever you buy put an EOTech on it. You will not be sorry.

I agree 100 % also on the Eotech. I have a 512 on mine. They are the way to go.

I would personally suggest a rock river. Having fired quite a few different ones, and having been military myself for 13 years. For the price, and the accuracy, my personal opinion is you cant beat them. And the 2 stage trigger is freakin awsome. Whether he is looking for match grade, a c.a.r., varmit set ups, flat top, carry handle, they have about any configuration that he could want for a resaonable price. Well, none of them have a reasonable price anymore. And i would suggest going to Gallensons in downtown SLC. They always have a decent selection and are a bit cheaper than Impact or Cabelas or Sportsmans or even Get Some
