The wife finally took her first branch antlered bull Friday in WY. while hunting the last part of her rifle hunt. We headed up Weds. into the heart of the winter storm blowing thru WY. 30 to 40 MPH winds blowing snow etc. etc. I ran in 4X4 from Rock Springs on I-80 to Rawlins then North toward Casper. We left about noon and luckly didn't catch any road closures. I-80 East of Rawlins was closed Weds & still closed when we headed back to Utah Sat. morning. The wife was a real trooper hunting in blinding snow and wind storms all day Thurs and into Friday. We spotted several bunches of elk Thurs. but the wind was never in our favor. Finally Friday afternoon we were able to get to within 100 yards of a bedded herd with several bulls after crawling on our stomachs for several hundred yards. She was able to connect on this bull as they started to move out. We had to follow him down off the ridge we were on as he finally went down out on the prairie where she was able to finish him. The temp was 11 degrees in the morning but had warmed to above freezing by the afternoon with the wind still howling. She was one happy hunter and me a very proud husband.

Thanks for the kind words, she missed a larger bull during the archery season there but was more than happy with this one as it was pretty nasty weather most of the time and it was coming down to the end of her hunt.

Nice bull for her first branched antlered bull.... I still have my cow tag for the Buffalo area, 110 miles north of Casper. I have until the end of the month to take her. I will be heading over soon for 2 weeks, I have a couple of doe tags and hopefully get a couple of doe antelope tags also.... Great job.....

She's my best friend and favorite hunting & fishing partner. We are allready talking about fishing the Canyon Ferry walleye tournament in June, we fished it a few years ago and what a blast. Winning 2 day weight was around 80 lbs. 150 teams, the city of Townsend Montana really puts on a big deal with this tourney or at least they did when we fished it. Like to see some Utah teams enter it as we were the only one that year.

I always wanted to fish that lake while I was living in a small town called Bear Creek Montana. It is 5 miles south of Red Lodge. 40 Min. North of Cody WY. The only lake in the area that I knew had walleye in it was one called Cooney Res. I heard of walleye up to 13 pounds caught there but I had not fished for walleye much. While I was there I fished for trout almost every day. I had not really gotten into walleye as much as I am now. Beautiful place to travel. If I had a steady tournament fishing partner I would try to make it to some out of state walleye tourneys. I think it would be a riot. I still need to tone up my skills though. [blush][Wink][cool]

Wow! That is a nice bull. It would have been better if you held a tape measure to it...Just kidding [Wink].
Tell her I'm envious. How did you get him out?

Threw him in the back of an F-350 and headed out, we were able to drive to him with the rancher's permission.

Very nice. Did ya charge her a guide fee[Wink]. Tell her congrats.
