Wiperslayer and I fished Willard yesterday from 8:30am till 2:30pm. Water temp was 46* when we arrived, 49* when we left. We trolled the Freeway bay area in the morning with no success. We tried close to shore and out in the open water until 11:30 or so when we decided to try the North dike. We trolled about half the distance when I reeled in this monster shad, believe it or not it was hooked right in the mouth.

We trolled on and started picking up some nice wipers from 16” up to 21”. We stayed in that area and ended up with 6 fish, most of them were right on the bottom and we caught them using lead core line and producers. It was a nice day and although the catching wasn’t hot it was average for most years, at least for me. Those wipers sure were fatties and it’s starting to look like they are thinning out those big clouds of shad that there present a few months back. I hope the weather holds and I get a chance to get out there a few more times. Sure was nice, with few folks on the water this time of the year but we did see one water skier. WH2
