I am headed to Scofield on Saturday with my Pa in Law. Both of us are on toons and have never fished here before. We will be fly fishing mainly, and using our spin rods if we can't get them with the flies! I am a regular at Strawberry and have heard that these two lakes are very similar. I figure this time of year we will try pulling leeches and jigging; is this productive? any additional information would be very appreciated....like where to start fishing?
Thanks again and I'll be sure to post our results

I've caught tigers on olive buggers up there before. Although I've never tried them, minnow patterns may not be a bad idea either.

If you end up using the spinning rods, pointer minnows would be a good bet. Good luck.

[cool] I don't fly fish Scofield, but I have fly fished in the past, and yes, using bigger nymphs like wooley buggers or zonkers with sinking line stripped back to the toon should do very well there. I second what the other guy said about minnow patterns too. A lot of what works at 'da berry will work at Scofield. However, the two lakes are very different depth wise and size wise. Scofield is only about 40 feet deep and Strawberry is over 200 in a few spots. There are tons of fish in Scofield, so I would recommend starting in about 15 feet of water cruising parallel to shore and then go out a little deeper from there if you aren't getting into any yet. What ever you do, I'd recommend getting there quick. It will have an ice cap in 3-4 weeks...

Good luck, and let us know how you did!

All you have to do is stick your finger into the water and wiggle it! LOL. From what I saw last time I went basically anything that hits the water will get clobbered. It was impossible to not get a bite. Good luck but you won't need it.
