Got my boat all fiberglassed and figured I better give it a test run on a nice deep lake.Looked a tad bit choppy so I launched at the south ramp. Figured I could duck into Wallsburg bay if it was too bad. Water temp 51.
Went across to the steep spot below the R.R. tracks.Had a good hit on a jig and curly tail in 42 feet. Missed that one and didn't get another bite. Lots of marks on the fish finder but hard to fish with the big wind and waves.Threw out crankbaits and headed down lake toward the dam along the west shore. Nothing. Went to Wallsburg bay and had a bite on a jig and crawler in 43 feet toward the back of the bay.Tried a crawler harness and a few other things. Nothing. Went back across to the tracks and tried for a few minutes. Not a bite. Gave up and went back to the boat ramp, along with everybody else. Five boats trying to fight for position on a two boat dock. Beached my boat so I could watch and laugh at everyone else fighting the wind and other boats.
While I sat there I noticed some slimers swimming around the dock. Put on a spinner and caught six. Kept four that were hooked deep, loaded the boat and went home. Not a total loss anyway.
