Guess i'll start the thread! How'd everybody do?
We headed out this morning with my good ol' chocolate girl and my buddies young white lab. We had a few guys that wanted to tag-a-long as well. We ended up puttin' 8 roosters in the air and only shot 3 of them. Bad shootin' and a lot of birds just jumped on crappy angles and we couldn't shoot. Lots of fun anyway! My choco lab Tobler is 11 years now and this was probably her last pheasant hunt...her joints are bad and she's gettin really slow and sore. She's fetched a lot of birds for me it's been fun! Now she's fast asleep on the porch dreamin' about birds!
Got some nice fresh pheasant scent to work with my 5 month old labSmile She's gonna be awesome next year!

09' hunt has been awesome , hunted up north in the corrine area opening day jumped 1 hen and 2 roosters and i was done by 8am,
went out friday the 13th with a buddy and jumped 10+ birds and we put down our limits again and we even left a rooster for seed. Man what a difference, i have hunted since i could (10+ years) without a dog and i will never do it again. alot less work and and a lot more shooting!!!

Made it out twice jumped a rooster each time and a couple hens but they are all still out there to seed next years crop of birds. my lab is a duck dog so he wasn't much help to me(my fault I could have trained him for it). went out to howard slouch, did a little duck/pheasant combo. Pup decided to step on a nail middle of last week, ended hunting for half the hunt. $400.00 vet. bill

My first day out I had a funny experience. Was walking out a road to were I was going to hunt, grasses were 10' tall on each side of the road. About 80 yards in front of me on the other side of the grasses some good ol'boys were working their dogs up over the road a hen jumped...BAM.. He missed. As I got closer they could see me through the separations of grass another hen jumped, they didn't shoot. When I got close enough to talk to them I asked " Are hens legal to shoot this year?" I got a sheepish reply "no their not" just then another hen jumped right in front of me. My question kind of worked two ways,I had not read a proc. and wasn't sure what regs. were and #2 they knew someone saw what they were doing.

We have enough problems with the lack of pheasants in UT. If I see someone intentionally shooting a hen the game warden is going to have a talk with them for sure. If that's what they were doing just how many have they shot before you saw them?
