i was just wondering, who agrees along with me that bluegill should get much more respect as a gamefish

Bluegills and Green Sunfish can get to be really good size and they can be fun on a slow day when nothing else wants to bite.[cool]

i know what you mean and they don't need big lakes to grow big either, in my neighborhoods 3 acre pond i was fly fishing and saw a bluegill like 2-2 1/2 inches wide rise on it but i could set the hook, it would have easily been a state record

ya sure was, several messes [:p]
I like it when 1 gill makes dinner

I could eat more, and have in my younger days, now they just put on the baby fat when I over eat....[fishin]

You gained my respect with those catches

i will have to agree ..but add..big gillsbulls we call em are a crafty fish to find and fun to chase.good eating to..one off my favorite ways to fish is ice fishing for bluegills..i spend most of my icefishing time doing this..cant wait till first ice

I agree. A big bull bluegill is a prize.

Bluegill are excellent fighter and you can't beat them on 2 lb test line. I've got my best results on Berkley Gulp 1.5 chart jig grub.

i still prefer chasing them around ice fishing...tear drops and waxworms..
