Hello everyone,
I wanted to post here and let you all know that thanks to some tips and support I have been able to finally land fish with some consistency on the lake.
I have only recently bought tons of tackle and an old boat to enjoy fishing some waters here around south east idaho.
In my last two trips to Springfield in the past week, I have landed about about 20 rainbows and probably missed at least that many due to the really active and jumpy fish there. Last time I felt fish fight so hard was at Henry's lake when I landed a Hybrid.
I will first admit I was using rapals and spoons. but after landing a few with those, I've caught about 5 and missed 6 with my fly rod. I was using wet cel II sinking, with a orange leach pattern. What a blast to land a 16-18" rainbow with killer fight!
My presentation is getting a little better, but I find myself missing too much if I see the fish approaching the leach. I tend to jerk too soon if I see the fish. Way fun but frustrating to miss! I tend to hook up better if it is on a blind cast retrieve. I have yet to land a 20" rainbow but I think there might be some out there. No browns recently, only one bout 6 weeks ago.
Thanks to everyone here at BFT all for your help in my learning of fishing!
