My buddy and I fished for a couple of hours on Tuesday night, near Upper Marsh Creek. It was our second attempt at fishing for burbot from shore, but it showed some promise. When we weren't maintaining the fire to stay warm (Brrrr!) we caught 2 burbot (around 20 inches), 1 lake trout, and lost a couple more. We were using Northland floating jig heads in glow, tipped with sucker meat, rigged below a sliding egg sinker or rigged drop-shot style above a terminal weight. I suspect we were fishing between 20-40 ft of water. Burbot can be caught this time of year in open water, preferably from boat, but also from shore.

Three of us also took advantage of another blue-bird November day, to jig up some lake trout and rainbows on Wednesday afternoon. [#ff4040]Fishing was hot![/#ff4040] We caught 24 lake trout and 5 rainbows while vertically jigging near Mustang Ridge. Most of the fish came shallower than my recent trips, some from only 40 ft of water. We were using tube jigs (white, crayfish) tipped with sucker meat, and Berkley Gulp minnows rigged on a glow jig head. Lake trout ranged from 14-22 inches and some of the rainbows pushed 18 inches. Surface temps were 47 F.
