Went to DC this morning arrived at 7:30 a.m. to heavy fog. The first hour or two was slow. After the fog lifted the fishing improved. We ended up boating 37 fish. We were trolling using both long lines and down riggers. Early in the a.m. gold & black jointed Rapala's were the hot item. Afternoon, perch Rapala's were the hot item. Both Rapalas were used on the long lines.
On the down riggers we used a combination of RMT and squids (not RMT) w/dodgers. The bigger fish were at depth - 20 to 25 feet. The RMT spoon with the purple head & multi color did extremely well (I forget what they are called?).
The big fish for the day was an 18-inch brown. We also caught about 18 that went 14-16 inches and another 18 that were 10-inchers.
I had 3 rainbows on that would have went 20-inches. They fought likes kokes, very aerial the second they were hooked. Got them within 10 feet of the boat and they had worked the hook loose and came unzipped - dang.
Did the best working the cliffs on the east side between Rainbow Bay & Island Bay (??). Also did well west of the Isalnd.
If DC freezes over this winter, it should be some good fishing close to home.
