greetings all

this past weekend i had the misfortune of someone ripping off my tacklebox in a well lit parking lot of all places. I had it in my van and the doors were locked. I had to stop and get a fish weighed on a certified scale. Anyway, i come back out and someone had smashed in my freakin window and lifted my box. Aww, to say I am miffed is an understatement. But there isn't anyone who is going to keep me off the water regardless. Its not the first time this has happened. It is just a
thing to realize that there are fisherman out there who have to resort to doing things like that. I had a lot of tackle in there. Not all of it, by any means, but enough money invested in it to buy a small 3rd world country!

The evening had been incredible up to that point. I hooked into a whtie amur, or grass carp that went 37 lbs and was one inch short of being 4 foot long. I fought him tooth and nail with 8lb Stren for over an hour in pitch darkness. heck of a fish!

I refuse to let these thieves ruin that night. My tacklebox can be replaced and the memories can never be stolen.
Just felt like I needed to rant a bit. Its all I can do besides having filled out a police report.

Anyone else ever have their tacklebox ripped off. Feel free to post your rants here.

best wishes all of you

keep those lines wet

Daniel C. Nielsen
http://www.nebraskafishing.com/index.html
Ouch! Sorry to hear that! I can't remeber that every really happening to me although I have many friends who have a story or two along those lines. I definetly feel for you as I'm sure the real shame is your tackle box was probably not nearly as valuable as all the great stories that come to mind when you popped it open!! I guess if you have to look at the bright side, you have a great excuse to go tackle shopping! Its funny with all the things you can insure in this world (cars, boats, houses, pets, jewelery, etc..) there is no tackle box insurance and my personal boxes are probably not worth actually insuring but I do have many friends that could use this service. Anyone ever here of fishing tackle insurance? Just a thought? Take Care Daneil.

[laugh] How about a good laugh?
<A HREF="http://

You know you are right. I believe fishing tackle should be able to be insured. i mean after all, we invest small fortunes in them. They are worth a lot of money. Even a small tacklebox with about a dozen or so lures is pushing right around 100 bucks. I stop and think about everything I ahd in mine and I am looking at more than a grand. Probablya ctually closer to 1500. I won't be so stupid next time. I will spread all my tackle out evenly through outher tackle boxes I have and just take one. If I don't have something I need, then I'll have to wrok around it. No sense in taking the chance someone with light fingers is going to take it. Plus, if I don't carry a lot, odds are no one is going to be interested in taking it anyway.

Out of curiousity, i am going to talk to my insurance guy. My takcle box was worth more than my van and they insured that rusty piece of junk! HAHA

Take care

keep those lines wet

Daniel C.
