Last year was the first year in quite a few that I have not been able to ice fish over thanksgiving weekend. I've usually gone to Scofield or Hunnington. Usually Hunnington freezes up first between the two. Since Scoefield has a couple of inches and will probably have more next weekend, it would probably be safe to say Hunnington is even thicker ice. Any one know for sure? Woodruff usually freezes up early also. Never been there, but have thought about it a time or two. Got the itch and it needs to be scratched.

well as of 2 days ago huntington was open water.. it was 100% iced up in the morning. but the heat of the day and the wind opened it right up.. the wind has been bad for the last 2 days. so not sure if the ice is going to be there or not.. i do know it only takes 1 cold night to put 2 inchs of ice on it.

I drove up to Woodruff Res. last Tuesday and there was a little bit of ice by the spill way and cliffs but it was still 90% open water. I got that same itch to! Laroo may have checked it this weekend, not sure though.

Comon Ice. Form baby form. cdragon and I will be up there day after Turkey Day to continue our tradition to kick of the hard deck season. Most years its pretty sketchy but we will see how it goes this year. Hopefully the wind dies down up there so that we are good to go.

Won't be too long now. Saw the Price river had ice on it saturday as well. Play it safe, wait until it gets a little colder.[Smile]

I think it is important to point out that there may be 100 yards of ice with 4 inches but the majority of the lake will have 2 or less. I hesitated posting my report from last week due to the fact that some might get overly confident by my report and end up falling in. We found 1 small area with 2-2.5 inches in the morning.By the afternoon, even that ice was unsafe. The majority of the lake was open water and the rest of the ice was only 1/4 inch and shrinking. I am sure the majority of the lake will be capped this weekend but with windy and warm weather, this is not the place to make a family ice fishing trip with kids this weekend. We had the benefit of clear ice so we could easily observe ice conditions. With any snow on the ice, you wont know what you are stepping on. Please be careful and give scofield another week. Some of the higher farview and manti lakes are frozen if you must. I wouldn't want to be part of the dozens of people all fishing the small area of 3-4 inch ice.
