[#002850]I know some of you were wondering what the ramp conditions are at the Straberry Marina. I too was wondering. So I called down there and was able to talk to the caretaker of the Strawberry Bay Store and Rentals. He said that, even though the ramp was mostly snow packed, someone had used a snow shovel to move snow to open one narow lane. He said that several boats launched from that narrow lane yesterday. I would imagine that trailers coming up out of the water would be leaving a lot of water freezing on the ramp. So some rock salt might be good to have if you plan to give it a try.

I also asked him about ice on the lake. He said that some shallow bays may have ice but the majority of the lake is still wide open.

With a little luck, I and Bait_Caster will be fishing the Berry from a boat one last time this year on Friday. I've got a few new colors of tubes I really want to try. I am also going to try kentofnsl's trick of traping crawfish and using their tails to tip my tube jigs with.

Anybody else plan to be fishing Strawberry Friday?

We will be there as well on Friday. I hope to be there at first light so I can see what the ramp looks like. I already have my bag of rock salt in the truck for ice on the ramp. What time are heaeded up there? Maybe we will see you guys around. We will be fishing the renegade area if we dont freeze first going arcross from the marina.
We will also be there around first light ... or earlier. We will be in a white Trophy center console being pulled by a big Dodge. We will probably see you as we too will be fishing the Renegade area.

keep an eye open for either a gold 2500 silverado, or gold taho (CO tags on the tahoe) and a red tracker with 2 ugly dudes and one smokin hot dude wearing a red beanie, well be there same time same day and were contributing, im bringing a bucket of salt.

I was at Strawberry on Wednesday the 25th. The boat ramps where not bad, they are mostly dry with little snow. I lunched at main ramp with no problems my tires did slip a little when pulling the boat out.

I was hoping for a better day of fishing than we had. The morning started out good no wind, no fog, had two fish on with in 30 minutes. The wind picked up a little in the afternoon however the fishing did not. The afternoon bite was slow. It was my worse trip this fall. I usually catch 25 – 35 fish in a day, yesterday I boated 13 fish. I lost another 10 or so at the boat. They were not very aggressive they just tap the jig and bait then move on. Good luck on the Berry I’m going to hit the hard deck this weekend before heading to Bear Lake next week.

I thought of using crawfish tails also.. Last yr while ice fishing i would see the little buggers on my flasher.. the would come off the bottom about 3 ft after my bait.. then fall back to the bottom.. soon after they started we would have fish move in.. I think this yr i will be rigging with crawfish imitations / and oils..

Thanks for the update. I was going to post the same question. I will be heading up Saturday and hope to launch at Renegade, so any updates from Friday would be truly appreciated.

Knock em' dead and save a few for me......

Thanks, PowerBate
