I finally had the opportunity to take Murdock crappie fishing again this morning. I picked him up at CFP at 8:00 and we headed upriver to hit a few places. The first couple of stops were fishless except for one of EricM's pet bluecats that pulled off just about 10 feet from the boat. It looked to be in the 6-8 pound range. Danny was having a great time thinking that he had a big bass on, but alas, he just got slimed. emoBig

Then we stopped at a popular dock and caught a couple of crappie there, then fished a bluff and caught 1 more crappie and a 12 pound drum by yours truly. That's why I'm called "Drumking". emoUp Then on to the creek to fish docks and blowdowns. We only found one concentration of crappie on one dock and ended up the day with 20 total. All released except 3 that we gave to Yellburt. We saw him and Labman up the creek (not sure if they had a paddle or not) emoTongue We had already released about 15 crappie when we saw Labman and Tommie, or he would have had a good mess of fish to clean.

The TVA has dropped the bottom out of the lake and is probably going to close the spillgates today if they haven't already closed them. With that rapid drop, the crappie tend to suspend even more than usual and that is where we found them. Suspended about 8 feet down over deeper water. Some were suspended under the dock we were fishing and others were suspended over a brushpile that I know is very close to that dock. Water depth there was 23.5 feet this am. Water temp was 55 degrees in the creek and 56.6 degrees in the river.

We also saw Bbass up the creek too along with a couple of guys. He is still breaking in his boat motor. Then after running back down river just before we quit for the day, we saw Catfish1 with a friend on the bluff and also Tyler Ware and his wife, Mendy. It was great talking to everyone of you guys and gals.

Time for Bama and Auburn on the tellie, so I'm cutting this report short. Enjoy the pics.

Darn, I forgot to measure the drum to see if it was a TARP. I need one more different species to get the Master Angler 2 award from TWRA. It weighed 12 pounds and fought like the dickens, but had to succomb to the Mr Crappie Hi-Vis yellow 4.0 lb test line and UL rod. emoBig emoGeezer
