It was time to get out of the house and shake the dust off the auger. I got the family up at an early hour to get out and get on the ice.
The weather was one of those blue bird days you hope for when you go ice fishing. Blue skies no wind and warm temps. The women in my life took the opportunity to ham it up for the camera.
The day started out slow so they went outside to do some artwork. Now this is no competition for the legendary Loah snow drawings it was a cute way to pass some time why the bite was off.
After moving a few times we finally found the place that the fish would cooperate with us. Notice the 4" tube jig in this colorful tigers mouth.
I broke off a really nice one at the hole those larger fish are a real challenge on light line and a light ice fishing rod. This one I did manage to get up for a photo.
My daughter finally sat down and got serious because we changed over to what daddy was using.
She finally got her first tiger through the ice on the world famous Barbie rod:
All in all not the fastest day of ice fishing we had 5 to the hole that we got a look at. Had 3 get unbuttoned somewhere on the way up and missed a couple of other bites. A nice way to kick off ice fishing season!
