Jedburton, Tincanfsh and I fished Scofield and Electric Lake today. I expected lots of small fish at Scofield and that is exactly what we got, so after catching about 120 of them we packed up and headed for Huntington Reservoir. Decided to check the ice at Electric Lake, by the boat ramp, on the way and found it to be fishable. (I first had to do a quick turn and burn trip back to Scofield to retrieve my ice shack that had fallen off of my sled.[mad]) I think we were the first ones to ice fish Electric Lake. Jed and Billy were kind enough to not catch any fish while I was gone. The fish weren't quite as plentiful at Electric Lake as Scofield, but almost, but most of them were larger than they were at Scofield. Surprised that we caught more tiger trout at Electric Lake than cutthroat. Ice at Electric Lake was 3 to 4 inches thick, but there was also a lot of open water.

lol left something behind huh? that sucks.. i seen E-lake was getting close the other day.. the open water will be there all year thats where the bubble up is.. but the rest of the lake will be ready soon..

There was open water right in front of the boat ramp. I imagine that will freeze soon.

Hey Kent!
What time were you at Scofield and what area? I was there with a couple of other buddys, we were very close to the dam in the green 6 man ice shack. There was one other RED colored ice shack in that area also. We also did very well on the fish. There were 3 of us and we were each able to catch 3 species each (Tigers/Cutts/Rainbos) with a few really nice examples of each species that were caught. Mostly smallish Rainbows however just like everyone else. We were there from about 8:00 or so till about 4:00. Drove home in the snowstorm thru Spanish Fork Canyon!
Later!

Hey Kent, I'm pretty sure we were fishing right next you at Scofield. We were in those red Eskimo ice huts. We had pretty much the same success. We stayed till right around 3:30. I didn't realize it was you until someone you were with mentioned your name.

We fished right in front of the large pipe that goes under the highway and just north of three cabins on the east side. This is on past the arm where the dam is and around the corner and south a mile or two.

Yep, we walked by you as your were setting up and then ended up fishing north of you. I'm sure it felt good being in that shack when that cold north wind blew for awhile. I didn't even bother putting up my shack and then to top it off by having it fall off and have to return to pick it up.[crazy]

Hey Kent, is there anyway you could post a pic of your rod rack on the back or your sled? I really liked that setup. I'm trying to picture it in my head but I'm drawing a blank. Thanks a bunch!

hey kent thanks again for a great first ice fishing trip of the year. It was a lot of fun and although the weather could have been a little better the fishing was awesome. At scofield the tigers and rainbows looked like they were doing well, but the poor cuts (or snakes i should say) were looking awfully skinny. I caught one cut that was around 17 inches that was soo skinny his head was far bigger than his body although tincanfish caught one that was big and fat so some of them are OK. I wonder if the tigers aren't outcompeteing them really bad. Oh and Kent forgot to mention the heart attack most of the anglers on scofield got when a pressure ridge formed about 50 yards from where we were fishing with a loud bang and a lot of movement on the ice. I am pretty sure flippinstick44 or one of his buddies mentioned needing to clean their shorts afterwards[

]. Once again thanks for the great trip. It was a lot of fun meeting tincanfish as well.
