I took a drive by Piute and Otter Creek yesterday morning. There's about 2 1/2 inches of ice on Piute. There is less at the edges- maybe an inch out about 10ft. There is also some open water in spots. I would bet it will be safe by Monday. Otter Creek has a good 3 inches of ice at the state park. The fish cop thought I was nuts, but I walked out from the ramp and drilled some holes just to verify. He said there is open water on the north end. I was not expecting so much ice, or I would have gone prepared to fish. I was planning to go back tomorrow and fish, but the forecast is for 8"-18" of snow in the valley.
