[cool]Went out to boulder harbor thursday to try for stripers and to net some shad. The shad were nowhere to be found and neither were the stripers. I was using all artificial lures. Went to 33 hole and saw all kinds of bird activity and alot of wind. I took the tube down and kicked against the wind to government wash and finally hooked up with two stripers; one 1.5lb and a 2lber. on a small bucktail jig. The birds were diving on shad being pushed by the stripers even in 15 to 20mph winds! Went out to Hemenway the next morning for the trout plant hoping to get a larger striper. Got6 no love there. Saw one caught by a boater that was 4 pounds. Left there and went back to 33 hole to find glass conditions and a couple boils. Paddled back to gov't wash and got three stripers before 3 bozos in a boat raced up and silenced the bite. Saw a guy in a bass boat jigging up stripers in the middle of the wash. I decided to try my luck at it and got three more on a3/4oz jigging spoon. finnally called it a day at 4pm. A good couple days on the water.

Nice post, inspires me to get my boat out on the water. You can float tube in 20mph winds?

Way to persevere in tough conditions. I don't think i'd be tubin in that weather...

I may get out tonight for some bait-fishin. Its a good time of year to bundle up on the kayak and bring a few beers to keep ya warm. Hell, maybe I need some whiskey out there to stay warm!

Winds are blowin over 20 mph outside my house right now. We will see if I get the balls to go out after dark in this. Gonna be a cold one tonight...

Now that's the kind of post I like to read!

Those stripers look nice and fat.......perfect for the table. Glad to hear a few shad are still around because I'm gonna be on the lake this Saturday, rain or shine or high winds!

[cool]Yeah you still can but it is quite a workout. You have to be kicking constantly to hold position. Getting wet is also part of the deal. I would fish on Crowley lake in the California eastern sierras and had to battle two foot waves to get back to shore when the wind started up.No place for a leg cramp. The plus side is if your landing area is downwind, then its time for a fast troll.

[cool]Go get 'em. I use a set of Frogg Toggs(rain suit) when the wind and rain is on the menu. Also some blackberry brandy to keep the inside warm such as my buddy and I used a couple weeks ago.
