Freida and I fished for a few hours today, very cold. We fished our flathead hole for a few minutes without a bite. Went for some crappie and caught a couple in some "clear water" back in the creek. The temp in the creek has really fallen. It was 46 back at the house this morning. We decided to run out and fish some deep water spots to see if the fish were still there. None at the first spot but the wind kept me from hitting the sweet spot I think. We ran up the lake and caught quite a few off another offshore spot, including one right at 14 inches that was 1.3lbs. I don't usually weight the fish but TWRA officer Pool was out doing a creel survey and weighed my fish. He is a nice guy. We talked for a few, then he went on, trying to find some other "idiots" that were fishing on a day like today. The wind was not as bad at the second spot and it was a good day as I learned some good info about that particular spot with my depthfinder. From time to time fish were busting bait on top at this particular offshore spot and I would expect that it was bass. The water temp was right at 50 degrees in Harrison bay and on the main lake. I did catch 3 bass, one that was 16 inches and a couple of smallish drum at that spot. We were getting cold so we went back to Harrison bay and looked at a couple of spots that had held some bass Friday but it looked like the fish had moved so we didn't fish the area. Ended up with around 10 keepers and no frostbite but it was close. All of the deep fish were caught on the bottom between 17 and 22 feet of water. With the wind and current at times it took 55 seconds for a 1/16oz jig to hit bottom. If I hit the sweet spot I got bit most of the time. I don't think that it got over 40 degrees while we were out there, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. No pics, sorry. Too cold when I got home, ran up to the house and started up the fire, that is feeling good.
