I have been here for 4 days of the best bass fishing there is...

Tomorrow we fish for 3 hours then head for the air port to fly out for home...

Big bass came each day for myself and Brent, Brent has the biggest bass for the two of us at 8.12 pounds my biggest so far is 7.7 pounds and over 50 to 80 bass per day...

Will post pictures and the rest of the fishing tells when we get back...

The temps here have been cool at 75 to 85 days and a cold 65 at night...

And now the rest of the story!!!!!![Wink]

We got to El salto lodge at 3:21 and was on the run to get our room and set up our rods and pack our tackle bags and head for our boat to get in some fishing this evening...

By the time we got in the boat and headed out across the lake it was 3:52 and across the water we went with poles in hand, the boat we had was 18' long and had a 40 Horse power motor with a 40 pound Elc motor that the guide ran for us as we fished...

I go to El salto for big bass we don't have here, for me that is 6 lb+ and hopes for a 10+ like my last trip...

Brent who was teamed with me only wanted to catch bass any size...So the first two days we fished for any size bass with the guide we had, I used bigger baits 7" and bigger sinko type baits and up to 10" worms and other lures of this size...One of the best colors was the watermelon with red flake, I tried top water and rattle traps with no takers, but brent was setting the hook on many bass from 10" to 3lbers....

What a day going from Utah to the best bass lake in the world and fishing on it all in one day....

Day two was just about the same with 3's and 4's and some 5 lb bass as well, not sure how many we got we lost count when or before two hours was up...

All fisherman would come in for lunch each day to eat (and rest your arms) at 11:00 or so till 2:00 (or when you wake up) and back to the back braking work of fishing...[crazy]

Brent got a 6 or 7 lb'er or two and lots of threes and fours, me yes I got a few but just no big bass I wanted I was looking for 6lb + but my biggest so far was 5.2 lb
when we went in for lunch...

We ate and I wanted to try other lures from shore by the boats Brent showed up about 10 to 15 min. later I watched him make a cast to a tree that I had just missed a bite at when he set the hook on a 8 lb 12 oz his biggest of the trip...

We ended the first day with Brent getting one over 8 and one in the 7 lb an others in the 3's and 4's, me well I got three in the 5 lb class and 4's and 3's as well but I'm still looking for my big bass over 10...

Day 3 we changed guides and went for bigger bass (my ten pounder) we hit some spots and picked up more 4's and 5's and I hooked in to a big one and the fight was on, in my mind I could see that ten pounder in my hands all ready, You can tell when you set the hook on a three or four pounder cause you can move the fish a little on hook set but this fish I set and it was like I was hooked to a train going the other way..The fight went pasted a tree or two then around the boat and he headed for one of hundreds of nets they have in the lake, then he was heading for the boat, you could see the bass under the water yes it is a good one, he headed under the boat and was pulling drag and like a dummy I put my thum on the spool to stop him and the line went slack she was gone I broke her off....[:p]

My low you know that sick feeling you get when you do a dumm thing you know better then to do...Well back to fishing...

Day four we worked a few spots and was catching lots of bass when the guide stopped at the same point I lost my big fish at, You just don't get another chance at big bass any place else or do you...

I made a cast to the stump and hooked up but only a three or so pounder, we fished the point and got a few more fish one more cast at a stick up and the line went to one side and I set and hook up but it was coming in like another 3 or 4 lb till I got it to the boat then all hell broke lose yep big fish on one more time, almost the same fight but the end was in my favor and I had my hands on a nice 7.7 lb bass and my biggest so far...

Day five our last day or I should say our last three hours of fishing we had to head for the air port by 10:00, we tried topwater but was not to be, then we seen some rollers in a cove and tried some rattle traps and game was on we lost count at 30 or 40 fish some pushing 4 but most around 2.5 to 3lb and one at 6.2 for my other bass over 6+ pounds I was looking for..

Now with Sad hearts and sore arms and backs we must head for Utah and SNOW COLD and hard water[:p][:/][pirate]....
Until next year and that ten + pounder...

Picture 777 is why Bernt landed so many fish [Wink] see who is handing the pole to who to reel in the fish...[Wink][crazy]

Four pound bass is big for most any place but El salto, there it is on the small side and if you go to a place like that is you want a bass of a life time or why go...
