Well I finally managed to get BassERT out on the lake again. It was in the high 20's when we left the ramp at CFP. The water temp was 49-50 and the wind was blowing as usual. We started on a bluff and managed a few legal fish, nothing big. Moved to a dock and picked up a few more. Still not the size we were looking for. Tried an open water spot, but wind made fishing deep nearly impossible. Headed up river and stopped at another dock and again a few legal fish. We moved on up and stopped at another bluff with max current, virturally impossible to fish properly. This was starting out as a really slow day.

The TVA was really pulling some water today, and I think the lake was rising as we were fishing. The water was starting to get really muddy looking the farther upriver we went. Lots of debris floating, and of course I missed seeing a big ol chunk and ran right over it with a clunk when the boat hit and another when the motor caught it. Luckly it was fairly soft and no damage to boat or motor.

We tried some more vertical structure but the wind was winning there too. Finally tried a couple of off river docks where the water was much less muddy. Caught a couple of nice fish, and then they turned on pretty good. We ended up with 31 (Pat thinks I can't count, lol.) crappie and 1 bass. I managed to snag another nice tarp about 14 1/2" and BassERT had several real chunky 13"+ fish. All fish returned to the lake.

So after a slow start, some adverse weather conditions, and muddy water we did pretty good when we got into some clear water. Pat will post some pics later on.

Regards, Labman
