It was just too nice an afternoon to not fish for a few hours so I called up Pat and he was interested. He got to the house within an hour and we were on the lake at a few minutes after 3. We started out fishing in the creek without a bite. Ran to find some clearer water but really couldn't find clear enough water to be very productive. We went all the way to Chester Frost and fished some off shore areas but the bite was really slow. We ended up catching two nice crappie there, one just over 14 inches. We also caught a few what Pat calls Alabama smallmouth(drum). There was only about an hour left of light so we ran back to the creek and the bite had started there. We ended up with 8 more crappie from the creek with one more TARP at just over 14 inches. We fished until there was not enough light to see the line. The CF fish came deep, on top of structure 17-18 feet deep and the creek fish were suspended at about a 5 count. The deep fish that I caught were on Panfish Assassins on a 1/16 oz jig head and the creek fish were caught on the same bait but with a 1/32 oz head. All fish were let go to be caught again. It was great to finally get out with BassERT! We had met at one of the crappie tournaments and had hoped to get out sooner. Thanks for being available last minute Pat!
