Went to Scofield on Saturday. When I got there it was snowing and blowing. I fished in the arm by the dam. I was fishing in 23' of water. As soon as I got setup the bite was nonstop until 2:30 when I left . In all I caught about 30 fish but 20 of them being chubs. I was using a glow in the dark jig head with the new Gulp Alive fry wow they work awesome. I was wondering if anyone else has tried them. The ice was about a foot thick.

I have never caught a chub at scofield until Sunday. I think we pulled out 5 between the two of us. We to caught them on glow jigs on the bottom. I sure hope the slot limit will help take care of them soon.

Did you notice anyone fishing out by the island or toward the middle section in that area?

I fished there Saturday. I started towards the southeast side then moved over to the island. The ice was about three inches thicker over by the island. The fishing was insane there (as well as our starting spot). On average, they were a little bigger by the island. No chubs at all that day. Between the four of us, we iced about 200-250 fish. Almost boring at that pace, but I'll take it!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the biggest fish that you caught?

The average seemed to be 10-12 inches, but iced a 14-inch rainbow and a couple tigers around 15-inches. The tigers were very skinny. Rainbows were a little fatter. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

I caught chubs bigger than the trout, biggest game fish I caught is the one in the pic maybe 10''.

I haven't fished Scofield in years. Are the trout always that small? Any lunkers ever come out of there?

For the last 2 years we have gone down there and have caught our limit. Most of them ranged from 12 to 18 inches. However, every report that I have read this year have been a lot of little fish. I know for me I'm not going to travel that far to catch a bunch of 8-12 inch fish.

Amen, we hit scofield today. Beautiful day on the ice. I have no idea how many skinny little cuts and fat little bows we caught. NO CHUBS. But we didn't fish in the dam arm. Just around the corner. Fast fishing for small fish. Fun but like someone else said. Can get kinda tired of not catching anything of any size. Have to try some where else. I may take my grandkids. They'd love it.

I was there with my sons and our boat the end of october before the boys deployed to afganastan. When the fish cop checked us he said they had stocked 275,000 6-10" rainbows and tigers that week. Thats why the fast action/small fish reports. They tend to grow pretty fast there however , so next summer/fall could produce a much larger average if guys turn um back for a while.

Where else could a guy go this Saturday with safe ice?
