I was looking for a safe ice report on Fish Lake. It's a pretty good drive for me and I'd like to make sure before I head out. Thanks in advance.

I'd doubt it. Most years you'll have some safe ice by Christmas. But it rarely caps before new years. The wind blows alot up there and keeps the water moving. So it takes a few good cold nights before it freezes. You can call Fish Lake Resorts for ice conditions but they don't have the best reporting on fishing hot spots during their off season.

A hard deck did come early, but I'd only give it a 2 on Mohs Scale...
There were still ducks swimming on Saturday even though 95% of the lake was freshly capped. The north and south ends were frozen solid but mostly inaccessible due to snow.
After Christmas for most of the lake just to be safe...

My Buddy and I went by there Sunday and it looks capped. The ice is clear as glass and slick as snot. The geese I saw sitting out on the lake were on the ice.
There is almost no place to park as the turnouts are not yet plowed. Sunday there was 14" on snow and it's been snowing hard here all day today. Bring your own snow plow!
