Made our first Pineview hard deck trek. After wading through the dink perch probably caught 75 plus managed to find the magic combination to get into larger ones.

It was a good day on PV for us. What worked was #10 Nuclear Ant tipped with waxie or snippet of night crawler. Found fish in every hole we punched just had to crack the code on get'n the larger Perch to visit the lure. Lures up dink Perch...lures down and hugging the bottom larger Perch. Them larger Perch are there just have to entice the bite...dead sticking and not having a spring bobber well you'd never see the bite as it was that soft. Fished anywhere from 50' to 20' with Perch coming in. Managed a lone Crappie.

We had a lot of fun and it was basically none stop biting action...and we're really glad Santa brought us the new harnesses to pull the sleds as it was a hike to and fro...but yet we survived and I don't feel like my arms are still pinned behind me.

Hey K2, is this Nuclear Ant the same as the Chernoble Ant? Good slew of perch for you two. Let me know when you head to PV again and I'll see if I can meet up or find you.

Now that is a great idea.....the harness is cool.
Great report also.
But I gotta ask, what is a Nuclear Ant?

Yep the harness was great...but with 5-6" of snow still a haul for us. Well worth the effort Santa elves effort at get'n this little helper.

Nuclear Ant...here you go...link.

how thick is the ice

Where we were it was 7-9" with a 2" upper layer of snow cone ice under 5-6" of fresh snow.

Based on the weather forecast for the Ogden Valley there could be a total 17" of fresh snow on PV by tomorrow and that ain't good for the ice including trudging through it and pulling a sled.

I'll letcha know next time we're headed that way. Would like to head out again Saturday...but per the various on line weather forecasts (weather channel & intellicast) there's a winter storm advisory specifically for the Ogden Valley for 8-12" of new snow...so if that advisory holds that would be 8-12" ontop of the already fresh 5-6" PV received Wednesday. Not good for the ice and really makes it more difficult for us to pull our sleds.
