Just got back from my family's annual ice fishing vacation. We stayed in Lava for two nights and fished Chesterfield on the mornings of the 31st and the 1st.
On the 31st we got there bright and early drilled our holes and started to get bites. Our group caught four rainbows within a half hour and it seemed like it was going to be a great day. We missed a handful of bites in the next five hours and that was it. We did cook two of the rainbows on the portable grill for lunch. I have to say they were some of the tastiest fish I have ever had.
Came back this morning even earlier. I was the first one on the lake. We set up and waited and waited etc...
We only got two quick bites this morning. I didn't even get a hit.
The only thing I can figure is that the storm changed the pressure and put the fish down for a little while.
Overall it was great swimming in Lava and the few fish we hooked were very nice and great fighters.
