I will be heading up to the berry tommorrow and was wondering if anyone has been to mud creek recently. I am wondering what the ice conditions are and if there is alot of snow on the ice right now. Any help on info would be greatly appreciated. Of course any catch reports would be great.
Fished Strawberry the last two days and had some really good success in Bryant's fork. We used snowmobiles from the marina store and drove West following the tracks of other machines headed towards the inlet of Bryant's Fork. Just before the tracks left the reservoir and up a hill towards the road we pulled off and found about 20 feet of water. You should be able to see our tracks and holes still? 8 of us ended up with about 30 fish in the morning using white paddle bugs tipped with wax worms. the bite was really good from sunup till about 11am. In the afternoon the bite would pick up about 3 pm. Two of us stayed and caught another 15 in about 2 hours from 3-5. Same holes, same technique. Talked to many anglers right near the ramp and they had mixed success. Good bite early there, but the catch rate didn't seem as good. I would suggest getting away from the crowds a bit. Just a bit of caution, there was some deep slush closer to the inlet of Bryant's Fork. I'd stear clear of it. One of our crew had a wheeler and got stuck. As long as you stay near the other tracks, you should be fine. Hope this helps. fstop
PS....the road to mud creek was plowed and I did notice a few trucks down there. I talked to the DWR and they said Mud Creek won't be plowed all winter long. Too long of a road they said to plow. So, it might be a good time to hit MC before the next storm.....

Only one 23 inch cutt. But, all of the fish that we caught were really fat and healthy. We tried to fish a little shallower for some bows but couldn't find any in 5-12 feet. That's when one of the guys got his wheeler stuck in the slush. We ended up back where we started and caught two rainbows. A great place to spend New Years eve and day with the wife. The weather for her was perfect, sunny and no wind. But of course, she was still cold? If someone has the time this weekend and can follow my directions, I think you might have a great morning and evening bite there. If you can't follow my scant bread crumbs, give me a call. I might be willing to take you up there and show you where we found them. Give me an excuse to get out of some "Honey Do's" Later fstop

I hit mud creek on the 26th for about two hours. Between 4 of us there was one hit. Talked to a few groups and no one had averaged more than one an hour for their group. I would try somewhere else.

We hit Mud Creek late yesterday and the bite steadily improved in the afternoon. Started off SLOW, we punched nearly fifty holes until we finally found the fish. At least ten other groups appeared to be having the same frustration. A white Maniac minnow tipped with chub meat was about the only thing that would trigger a strike. Time to hit some ice that hasn't seen as much fishing pressure.
