Stopped and checked the ice when I headed uplake yesterday and there's ice down to Brinegar Ranch, but it's only about 2.5-3.5 inches with pockets of open water.

I fished yesterday afternoon near Currant Creek and I managed 4 lake trout (lost a couple of others) in about 2 hours of fishing. I was using 3.5 inch Radical Glow tube jigs, tipped with sucker meat, and a 4-inch Berkley Gulp minnows, each with similar success. Fish were caught just off the bottom in 60 ft of water. Ice was a clear 4 inches.

I moved shallower across from Buckboard Marina and started catching burbot around 5:30 PM. I managed 8 burbot and a bonus lake trout before calling it around 7 PM. Fish were caught on tip-ups and rods set in 5-60 ft of water in rocky habitat. Most of the action came in 10-20 ft of water and burbot ranged from 16-20 inches. Burbot hit 3.5 inch Radical Glow tubes and 3-4 inch Yamamoto glow jigs tipped with sucker meat, hovering only a few inches from the bottom. Upon cleaning the burbot, I found only 3 to be ripe, 1 female/2 males. All were eating crayfish, except for a few empties.

Hope it helps, Ryno

nice looking fish, we are headed up there next friday for the weekend. fished lost dog and firehole last year for burbot and got into them but was not lucky enough to catch any macs. Was there fishable ice at Buckboard? Thanks Scott

I was straight across from there and could see anglers fishing that side. I assume it's about the same thickness and probably a little thicker back in the bays. Good luck.
