Hey does anybody know of any open water around salt lake that you can see carp? I know those are pretty specific stipulations, but any help would be awesome. I am going to be down there the next couple days and I would like to go after some if there is anywhere. Thanks again for any help, it is very appreciated!!

Millpond is open year round due to hot springs. Lots of carp with some big ones. You can fish Millpond with a license but not Stansbury because it is private. From the bridge works best this time of year or further southwest at the bubble up, but may be hard to land with the snow and muddy banks at the bubble up. Millpond is in Tooele county.

I-80 west
Exit 99 Highway 36 - Tooele/Stansbury
Take a right (west) at the Maverick in Stansbury
Follow down till you see the Millpond Spa sign, take left
If you see the baseball fields, you went too far.

I fish there all the time and have the most success with wheat bread. I have caught a 8 pounder from there before. Horrible picture below...

The Jordan River would be a good bet. Always full of carp and there is plenty of access.

Sorry, above link I posted was not working. Here is the pic but I forgot about the Jordan... definitely closer and more convenient.

There ain't no Carp in the Jordan....LOL
I got this one spot I need to go check on...that sounds like fun. A good change of pace although trout is good[Wink]

That sounds sweet. Can you actually see the carp? I ask because with a fly rod it is pretty tough unless you can sight fish for them. Blind casting to carp with a fly is a pretty low percentage ordeal.

The Jordan would be difficult due to pretty cloudy water. At Millpond, absolutely. The water crystal clear at the bubble up. Take waterproof boots and the snow/mud wont be an issue. Fly fishing from the bridge may be tough but i'm not a fly fisherman.
Later,
Chris
