made the short trip up to E-lake today.. got there about 9:30 fishing by 10:00 right from the start i seen fish on the finder.. got down and started out slow.. i could get the fish to chace but they were not hitting.. changed bait and wam it was on.. they were just sluging my jig.. they were hitting harder then any fish i have been on this ice season.. caught a mixed bag today.. tigers and cutt's.. abot 20 fish in 4 hours.. it was cold up there and a long walk but well worth it.. i might have to get back up soon.. Glad to hear you did so well. Were you by the dam or up at the other end? We've been talking about giving it a try. Thanks for any info.

i was down off the dam.. it's heck of a walk but the fishing was good for the effort..

when i switch from worm's to shiners i started getting hit's..

By some small miracle, was there any size to the tigers??

Sadley no size to them.. most were 12 to 14 inch.. looked to be in good shape tho..

We were there on Saturday and although we found fish and could get them to follow our lures on the finder, they would not hit. We left after about 2 hours. You are right, it is a tough walk getting down there and tougher getting back. Wasn't worth it for us. We tried chub meat, worms and waxworms on a variety of different sized jigs...they just weren't biting that day.

It sounds like you did pretty well. We are headed up there Sat morning if you want to show us up again. Bringing the chubs and mealies to see if we can get into them with you!

well they were doing the same thing to me when i first got there. a lot of the time worms work ok there.. but they just were not hitting them.. so when i changed to the red side shiners they liked them.. i was fishing in 40 feet of water but most the fish were caught from 15 to 30 feet down.. i had a ton of fish follow the jig and not hit.. but then i had some come jetting in and just slam the jig as well.. i used 4 diffrent jigs.. one was one of my costom spooks, one was one of footers costom gray ghost tube's. one i call a skunk tube(black and pearl), and a little tough guy in blue rainbow (that one has allways been a good jig on E-lake)..

Glad to hear e-lake is fishing good. Last year C-dragon and I made the journy across the dam late in the season. The snow was wast deep droping off the dam. I am still not sure how we got out of there but i remember it was alot of work. Good times! Thanks for the post.

[indent]Any ATV access? Like on the other end then the dam? How deep is the snow right now?

not a chance in hell !! snowmobile or on foot is the only way into that lake... snow is 3 to 6 foot drifts except on top the dam.. the wind blows it all off the top of it..

i was there again today took my snowmobile but never took it out just walked acrost the dam.. and i must say it was damn cold up there today.. and fishing was not near as good as the other day.. we only caught maybe 8 fish all day.. again we had a bunch of fish chaceing the jig's but not takeing them.. the only thing we could get them to take was red side shiners..

I have fished ELake twice this year. Same story. I can play them up and down the water column, but they just won't hit. They really like to chase ice cutters, but it was still hard to get them to hit. Some fish come in like a freight train, but most are just curious. We fished in 10-27 feet. Used several different setups. None produced significantly better. Caught a few tigers, but mainly cutts. Some are nice and chunky, others are skinny. Fun fishing, and someday if the bite ever turns on it will be great. I agree it's hard to get on and off the ice. It's not an easy lake to get to in the summer. Winter just makes it harder! Drifts are a challenge to get through. Last year there was a nice packed trail down the face of the dam...need some help getting one packed this year[:p] I may go up in the morning and drop some buggars and watta crickets down a hole[Smile], or maybe a wooly bugger. Something has to make them hit. I tried to attach some pics.
