You do need a permit. They have their own seasons, and a day permit is around 50-60$ and the season permits are 200$ and they only give a limited amount out at the beginning of the season.
This may not be the case on all the waters, but is what I was able to track down when I was curious about the spring creeks just north east of American Falls.

Wow!!!! EXPENSIVE FISHING TRIP!!!! If your paying that much for fishing I wonder if it is worth it... I'm curious what type of fish you catch out there?

I know guys that get season Res. Permits every year and the fish pics look like it's well worth it. (HUGE) May be one of the best kept secrets in the area.

I bought a Res permit 2 years in a row when I lived in Chubbuck. It is some great fishing. No one knows of the great fishing water and neat landscape until you're down on the flats. Some of my biggest fish caught on a fly rod have been down there. My largest Cutthroat was about 7-8 lbs caught on a dry fly. Just driving there you can see buffalo, deer, coyotes, and moose. I think it is worth the money if you live close enough to use it often.
