Had a cancelation for today so Bill and I headed over and spent 4 beautiful hours on Carters this afternoon. We got to the water about 12:00 and fished until 4:30. We only threw jerkbaits, crankbaits and fish head spins during our short trip. Bill hooked up on the 2nd cast w/ a deep jerkbait on spinning tackle, 10 minutes later Bill was holding a very FAT 20lb white fish. Great fight on the spinning tackle, and the little jerkbait held up nice. We dedicate all our white fish to Robert Edison w/ First Bite, he does the same when he catches a big spot, so if you want a bunch of these drag screamers call him LOL. We catch em on accident, but they are a blast. The striper had some sort of milk coming out of it, similar to the way perch do when you handle them this time of year.?.?.

Shortly after our big white fish was released I hooked our first big spot of the day, a solid 5lb Carters Lake Mag. The fish was sitting in a drain about 25ft deep and bit a fish head spin. We only fired the engine up one time in our 4 hours, we pretty much just fished what was in front of us and boated 8 keepers including another solid 4lb spot that bit a DLN Crankbait. Bill ended our day snagging a big gold fish (Carp) w/ the jerkbait, sorry no picture he wasn't interested in holding it up.

The snow made for a very scenic afternoon and an interesting ride home LOL. 4 snow filled hours w/ your best friend wacking big spots will work for me everytime.

I have one day open next week and two days the following. January is finally starting to fill up, if you want to get a big spot now is the time.

On a side note, if anyone is planning on going to the lake tomorrow be extra careful. We almost didn't make it down the mountain to 136, it was awful. I don't see how anyone can get up to the ramp tomorrow, or maybe even Saturday. The roads were completely snowed over on the MTN.
