My friend Travis and I have both landed a gill a piece. Green rat finkees with waxworms. Seeing a lot of fish just need to figure them out.

We moved closer to the pumphouse and have caught a bluegill perch and white bass. I also caught a Crappie earlier.

Travis caught another crappie. Fish are more suspended today. Theyare 10 feet-ish. We are fishing 12 feet.

We have found some crappies. They are about 6 feet of water with a real light bite.

Switched to a glow on glow rat finkee and it has helped. I caught another Crappie.

I knew I recognized you guys. I was right next to the pumphouse on the west end. The one without the two kids. I was going to come over and ask if you were going to be broadcasting live, but the bites starting coming when you showed up.
I ended up with 35 gills and 1 dink crappie. My friend caught 5 gills and 1 perch. He also managed to keep his kids out of the water, which was what really counted.
I was probably 2-4 feet off the bottom and I was using a pink Jammin Jig, similar to the pink Rat Finkee, tipped with a wax worm.
Good luck and stay warm.

Yeah we were just hanging low until the other groups moved out and we could move closer to the pumps. You were doing good work over there.

A bunch of crappies? Man I need me one of those flashers or whatever you use to help you locate them, especially when they are suspended. I have only found gills in bunches there. Everything else, perch, crappie, whities, seems to only come in ones and twos.
By the way, I noticed you have an Eskimo tent. Did you have a heater in there tonight? Either way, how warm was it? How is the space for the two of you guys and your gear? How many holes do you normally have access to in there?
I am thinking of getting the Eskimo Quick Fish, either the 3 or 6. It probably won't be until next year, but if a good deal comes around, it might be sooner than later.

I love my QF3. I had a heater and lantern in there. Plus my buddy his chair my finder his finder my bucket. And we have plenty of room and it's warm. We have had all that gear and another person . It was a little tight with all 3 of us but not to bad.

Nothing wrong with bluegill when they get good sized like they do at UL so good job on them. I sent you a PM about a post on the board about targeting crappie at UL. Check it out and you will catch more crappie and bluegill.

Thanks for the info and the pics! I just started ice fishing last month and at first I didn't think it was necessary to get all that "fancy" gear, i.e. tent, gas auger, fish finder/flasher, but now with several trips under my belt, my mind has been changed. Now I just need to convince my wife. [crazy]

Nice job Cowboy. Next time you are there and you notice a fat guy in a green coat, hat on backwards, and a southern accent...well, that should be me. Most likely I will be there with doc veha. Sounds like a sonar makes a difference...I'm going to have to invest in an ice tent once i get clearance from the head honcho
