Just wondering if anybody out there is having any success at Newton. I've been ice fishing out there three times this year and haven't had so much as a bite yet. Any tips on where the fish are?

I think they are at your mom's house karl.[sly]

LOL! I checked there over Christmas break. Not a crappie in sight, unless you count my nephew's dirty diapers.

I fished Newton over the past weekend. I typically fish Newton quite a bit. I did not mark fish until 37 feet of water over by the dam where I began. My buddy and I caught around a dozen perch the largest going 9 inches. We moved on to the typical crappie hide outs and could not find them in the deeper water. They are usually suspended around 3-4 feet off the bottom but I nothing on the screen. We moved around a lot with the same success only catching perch in the deeper water. I have only heard of one crappie being caught there this winter in the deeper water which I recorded around 42ft. I don't know where they are at. They usually run small at Newton. Anywho, good luck and hope this helps. LC

We caught one last Friday evening and had another pop off on the way up. At least I assume it was a crappie. It was hooked on the next drop with the same technique. It was nothing to brag about but it as still nice to get one on the ice. We were fishing on the bottom and hooked both on the upward swing of the jig which is unusual. I hope to get out one evening this week I will post if I have any luck.
