Fished Rainbow Bay Sunday morning and finally got to use my new Flasher (Marcum LX-5), wow what a great tool for fishing. Saw lots of fish, got lots of bites, couldn't hook nothing, drove me nuts. I finally caught one Huge Perch, he had to be 12-13" over a LB easy. Fattest perch I ever saw in my life. My one buddy with us caught one fish also, but it was a nice one 18.5" Brown. All in all I had a blast, those flashers are coolest thing I have ever used fishing. It's so cool being able to see your setup and how fish are reacting to your setup. My buddy had to be back early so we only fished for a little over 3 hrs.

Try wallsburg. I had fished charleston for two days, and did pretty well, but there were A LOT of people over there. The fishing was good in the walllsburg bay, and we had the place to ourselves. the rainbows were a bit bigger too, than the twelve inchers we had to weed through by charleston.

The Ice was a good 5 inches thick. We were out a ways from the bank, fishing in 40 ft of water. Most of the fish I saw and bites were just off of the bottom. I saw a few suspended about 10 ft below the ice but they wouldn't bite anything.
Thanks for tip Athonygreer, I will try that next time.

[#804000]Is anyone fishing around the island yet, or is the ice still sketchy?[/#804000]

I saw about a dozen groups, some on each side of the island yesterday. I didn't go out there, but there have been people fishing it,and tents out there too..... so I would think it is safe. Also, it's been barely reaching freezing here in the valley, so I am sure the ice is building up there each day.

We fished off the island last Saturday. The ice was 2-3" thick. We were one of the first groups there and we got bites early but once more people showed up the bites slowed way down. My son in law landed a very fat 10 inch perch and one rainbow early in the morning. The fish were still below us when we left around lunch to get my son to work but wouldn't bite.
