We were lazy getting up to Echo Saturday and the action was slow at first but picked up late afternoon. I had my two kids and dad with me all limiting out by the time we left. Fish there are and have been suspended between 12-16' below the ice. We hope to be there again to try again for those we let back into the pond...

the worst part is, they could have kept 6 if the kids were under 12 years old.. limit is 4 and kids can keep a full limit if they are under 12. you should have kept all the fish on the stringer. to keep fish that you intend to release out of the water for an extended period of time on a stringer, then release them, isnt a very good idea.

Not that anyone will care, but if you look at the picture, he didn't have the stringer up through the gills of the fish. He had punched the wire down through that soft skin underneat the fishes Tongue on the lower jaw. Truth be told the fish probably could survive that one.

I have seen those stupid Boga Grips do the exact same thing on larger fish, like salmon and steelhead.

But, all in all, probably better to not string the extra fish up in the future.

Awesome job on the catch though!!
Good luck next time.

Truth be told, I wasn't aware of the rule that everybody is now telling me... but now I do. I simply wanted to teach my kids about catch and release. I did not string them through the gills because I know that is harmful to the fish. I wanted to get a picture of the fish with my kids very quickly before I let my kids set them free. Harmless... so I thought. Nevertheless, we rarely even bring fish home, it was just a quick picture opportunity that I wanted to take advantage of with my kids.

I thought it was an awesome picture and your kids seemed to enjoy it as well.

Thank you so much, I really do appreciate your comments flippinstick44 and ice princess, I feel like I've taken quite a beating on this and it wasn't my intention to do any wrong. My kids did have a good time and they will continue the legacy of fishing long after I'm gone... That's for sure. Thanks again.
