We hit the Gorge hard on Saturday- lake trout by day, burbot by night. The lake trout fishing (pups) was awesome. We were fishing the flats/points just off the main channel in 50-90 ft of water in a few locations from Lowe Canyon all the way up to Currant Creek. Fish ranged from about 16-24 inches. There's lots of lures to choose from including tube jigs and minnow jigs in variations of white, grey, silvers, etc. Some fish were caught suspended in the water column, but most were cruising the bottom. The early and late bite was probably best, but some fish were caught throughout the day.
At dusk we moved in shallow and set-up for burbot near some rocky cliffs in 10-50 ft of water. We had up to 10 anglers for an hour or so, and totaled 101 burbot plus a dozen or so lake trout. Catch totals varied depending on the angler, from 4-20+ burbot. A variety of lures worked including jigging spoons (Buckshots, Crippled Herrings), grubs (Kalins, Yamamotos), tubes (Radical Glows) and minnow raps (Rapala) all in glow and tipped with some type of bait (sucker, chub). Tip-up action was slow, but deadsticking the rods still produced fish.
Ice was 6+ inches of clear, with some snow. Lots of people on the ice especially near Holmes Crossing and Buckboard. Wish I had some pics, but my camera battery was depleted from the cold. Hope it helps and good luck, Ryno
